HAVE YOU HEARD THE STORY OF SILICON VALLEY?
We are all enjoying the benefits of the labor of those who set up shop in Silicon Valley, California, USA.
Here's an except from a book on its early history:
[ It's the heart-warming tale of how Silicon Valley turned from orchards into a non-stop, high-tech zone. You'll find information on Silicon Valley's earliest days as a radio enthusiasts' hub (early 1900s) and then budding electronics powerhouse (1930s - 1950s.). Then, you hit the prime-time with the rise of semiconductor companies such as Shockley Labs, Fairchild and Intel; computer makers such as Apple, Sun Microsystems and SGI; and then internet companies such as eBay, Yahoo! and Google. ]
In addition, if you are an HP user like myself, you'd probably be interested in this bit of Silicon Valley history.
Here's the birthplace of Silicon Valley - "...William Shockley set up his semiconductor lab in Mountain View in the mid-1950s. He hoped to be close to his mother who lived in Palo Alto and pushed out the owners of a fruit packing plant at 391 San Antonio Road to start work constructing transistors. The decision to locate the lab in Mountain View would prove pivotal for this region...."
