If you want peace, do not destroy anything intentionally
Have you ever thought about how deep some simple words like the title to this post can be? Some things are also easier said than done.
"Thou shalt not kill...", said the somewhat presently-discarded biblical Ten Commandments but we humans need to eat when faced with drought and, unfortunately, dire situations in which we can panic uncontrollably and do some really regrettable things that we would end up being sorry for, or pay dearly for, when we become sober again with the benefit of hindsight.
Pope Benedict XVI said as much in his treatise on World Peace Day, coming up on January 1, 2010, when he said bluntly in conclusion, "....If you want to cultivate peace, protect creation......"
Anyway, I hope that all those dug into trenches in all the hot zones, conflict fronts, problem spots, and war-torn areas of the world are listening and willing to go for a cease fire to thank God for seeing the new year hail and happy, if those terms apply to their present circumstances, situations, or mindsets.
