Mistakes in law enforcement can be very expensive
A very prominent example of that fact was the more than $7.5 million cost incurred by law enforcement agents, who had acted decisively to rescue children ostensibly trapped in a polygamist camp in Texas.
Unfortunately, a Texas court did not see the rescue in the same light as the law enforcement agents.
That fact kind of beats me hollow somehow because I thought that a Judge had to sign a warrant for the raid to take place.
Oh, I am sorry, my mistake. A search warrant can be signed by any Justice of the Peace - JP, for short. that may really be the root cause of some of these legal wranglings often enveloping law enforcement from time to time in various countries around the world.
My prayer is that the same fate does not befall the extremely expedited charge-and-bail deal effected in record time with illegal immigrants in the US State of Iowa, as reported: 270 Illegal Immigrants Sent to Prison in Federal Push - NYTimes.com.
