Who really wanted Benazir Bhutto dead?
I really have to ask. Or should I have asked, 'Why had she wanted to die?' I mean, those are the only two options that I can visualize right now after seeing the shocking news item below in my e-mailbox today:
[
Bhutto Killed in Attack on Political Rally
The Pakistani opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was killed in
a gun and suicide bomb attack at a political rally being held
near Islamabad on Thursday, according to Pakistan's state
news agency.]
I recall her recent return to Pakistan being heralded by an ambush at night and the
media speculating then that she had been warned about the possibility before she set
off for her home country from abroad.
Afterwards, she was under house arrest before reaching a political deal with the
military-cum-civilian president Musharaf.
So, what could be more targeted than an attack on her at a political rally with both
guns and bombs? It would be the understatement of the year to say that she posed such
a big threat to someone that she had to be gotten rid of by any drastic means possible.
The only question left now is, "Who 'did' her in?"
