Politics and the background of the people running it
Election time can be quite interesting. For the simple reason that it gives a voter the right to see the credentials and the resume of a candidate. Yes, candidates are actually running for office and would be very willing to put their best foot forward.
How else would we know that most Presidential hopefuls are usually lawyers, in one form or the other? Barack Obama's legal training may have made him to realize that his chances of winning a Democratic Primary Nomination are very unrealistic now. His recent attitude to lobby groups has been described as following in the footsteps of Adlai Stevenson, a liberal Democratic Presidential candidate who lost woefully in the early 1950s.
I guess someone failed to remind either of them that politics is not for nice guys who play fair. It is a dirty game for those who are gutsy enough to stomach ordinarily unacceptable compromises in life. That's the kind of resume needed in politics, the qualifications very much sought after.
Speaking of resumes. did you know that the US Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, had been a competitive ice skater in her teens, as well as being an accomplished pianist? To top it all, she loves American football so much that she dreams of being an NFL commissioner!
How about that resume - no wonder she's called Condi Can-do by colleagues? She worked successfully with both Democratic and Republican Presidents continuously for about two decades now. Wow!
